Scrapbooking Tips

Scrapbooking can be a very fun and relaxing hobby. It is a fun way to preserve your family’s past and keep the everyday moments forever. It has evolved into a very elaborate hobby, but with these tips anyone can create a scrapbook.

You don’t have to think of every page and idea by yourself. Don’t be afraid to use page sketches and online galleries for inspiration. You can get ideas for embellishments and layouts from these sources. Even if you do turn to others for ideas, you can add your own personal style to your page.

Think outside of the box for embellishments. That jar of loose buttons that no one knows what they belong to can make great page embellishments. They can be cute centers for flowers, use for letters, or other embellishments. Ribbons and silk flowers from other things can also make great embellishments.

Don’t be afraid to take apart or combine embellishments. If you have several single layer flowers, stack them for a fuller flower. If you have a sticker that you only need part of, cut it and use just what you need. To create a border around a page, use a paper punch around scrapbook-tipsthe page.

Save all of your scraps, you will use them eventually. Smaller pieces can be used for punches or to make small embellishments. Medium sized pieces can make great photo mats on another layout. Before cutting a new piece of paper, go through your stash to see if you have a scrap that might work.

The most important tip for scrapbooking is to have fun! If it’s not fun, you won’t want to do it. The reason for scrapbooking is to be creative, have fun, and preserve the past.
