Scrapbooking Tools

Special tools are required for scrapbooking. The type of tools you will need is a personal choice and depends upon how much you will be scrapbooking and how elaborate you want your scrapbooks to be. Tools can be expensive, but you will use them often and they are worth the investment.

One of the most important tools you will purchase is a paper trimmer. This trimmer will be used for paper and photos as well. A larger 12×12 trimmer is ideal for trimming paper and can also cut photos. A rotary style trimmer is more expensive than a guillotine style, but replacement blades are inexpensive for a rotary style. Look for a trimmer with clear measurement markings to make trimming paper easier. If your budget allows, a smaller trimmer is easier to use with photos and smaller pieces of paper.

Good scissors are a must for scrapbooking. You will want a pair that is very sharp and specially made for scrapbooking. Smaller scissors are better for intricate cuts. Decorative scissors are fun for borders and special effects. They are inexpensive and can add a new look to scrapbooking-toolsany page.

Paper punches are also inexpensive and can be used for many things. Basic shapes can be used alone or to create paper piecings. You can also use the positive and the negative punches for different effects.

Before purchasing any tools for scrapbooking, do research to see how well others like the products. Also, ask friends and other scrapbookers how often they use their different tools. Unless budget and space allow, you will want to buy only scrapbooking tools that can serve many purposes.
